Swire Shipping opens a new office in Dili, enhancing support for Timor-Leste customers and strengthening its Southeast Asia presence.
Swire Shipping has opened its own office in Dili, taking over local representation from CEVA Logistics as part of its strategy to strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia and expand support for customers in Timor-Leste, reports Australia's Daily Cargo News.
The new office will be led by Darry Tan, who has worked in Timor-Leste for the past two years alongside CEVA Logistics. Swire Shipping stated that several experienced staff will transfer from CEVA to the new branch, helping maintain operational continuity and strengthen relationships with local customers.
The company indicated that this investment reflects confidence in Timor-Leste's long-term economic prospects following its admission to ASEAN in October 2025. Chief Commercial Officer Randy Selvaratnam noted that the Dili office would allow Swire Shipping to provide closer support to customers while contributing to the country's growing integration with the regional economy.
Swire Shipping operates a service linking Singapore, Surabaya, Dili, and Darwin every 10 days in partnership with PIL's Mariana Express Line. Following the sale of the Kokopo Chief for demolition, the service now utilizes the chartered 1,400 TEU Simag Shanghai, while PIL supplies the 1,170 TEU Kota Hidayah.
