A severe storm has temporarily halted transit ship traffic in the Dardanelles Strait. The storm, which intensified overnight, has led to increased current speeds at sea.

The Dardanelles Strait Vessel Traffic Services Directorate announced via radio to vessel captains navigating from both the north and south that the strait is closed to dual-direction transit passage.

Additionally, GESTAŞ Maritime Transport AŞ, which operates ferry services between the Dardanelles and the islands, reported the suspension of ferry services on the Lapseki-Gelibolu, Çanakkale-Kilitbahir, and Çanakkale-Eceabat routes.
