Cargo ships anchor in Sinop's natural harbor as a storm brews in the Black Sea, with winds expected to reach 75 km/h, disrupting maritime transport.

Following the storm warning issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology for the Black Sea, cargo ships sailing in open waters have anchored in the inner harbor area of Sinop, which has the characteristics of a natural harbor.

According to the latest assessments made by the General Directorate of Meteorology, disruptions in maritime transportation are occurring due to the severe storm expected to intensify from the evening hours in the Black Sea.

Winds from the west and northwest are predicted to reach speeds of up to 75 kilometers per hour, prompting ship captains who do not want to be caught unprepared by the storm to change their routes to Sinop. Sinop Port, which is the only natural port in the Black Sea, has begun to accommodate numerous international cargo ships seeking refuge from the storm.

The inner harbor area, located south of Sinop and sheltered from the wind, has turned into a veritable ship park with large vessels anchoring there. Fishing boats have also sought refuge in the port, waiting for the adverse weather conditions to pass.
