Singapore's Maritime Authority seeks proposals for autonomous feeder vessels to enhance container transport between Pasir Panjang and Tuas Port.
The Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore and PSA Singapore have launched an Expression of Interest for autonomous inter-gateway container feeder vessels, reported the UK's Seatrade Maritime News.
The proposed vessels would move containers between Pasir Panjang Terminal and the new Tuas Port. The EOI will assess technological readiness, operational feasibility, and safety, alongside plans for a remote operations centre to integrate vessel sensor data and port traffic information for real-time monitoring.
Proposals are expected to address navigational safety, interaction with manned vessels, traffic management, redundancy, cybersecurity, human-machine interfaces, and regulatory compliance, while also presenting viable business models.
The initiative was announced by Senior Minister of State for Law and Transport Murali Pillai during Singapore Maritime Week 2026. He stated that the project, together with a joint industry study on remote LNG bunkering, will explore autonomous and remote technologies to establish new operational frameworks.
