MORE than 70 containers were lost after the 2,470-TEU Xin Ou 21 developed a heavy starboard list at night off Zhoushan en route to Rizhao, reports Kiev's Maritiime Bulletin, which specialises in marine casualties. The ship understood to be safe, anchored north of Zhoushan, with authorities having to organise the the recovery of dozens of containers and their content, floating in the sea and scattered around coastline.
Recovery operations are under way, all ships navigating in the area are warned of floating containers as a hazard to navigation.
