A fire that broke out on a moored bulk carrier at the Kuzey Star Shipyard in the Tuzla shipyard area caused panic. While the crew was evacuated, the flames were brought under control through the intensive efforts of the teams.
The fire that erupted on the moored bulk carrier in the Tuzla shipyard area of Istanbul caused panic. The flames, which started in the ship's material room, were extinguished after approximately two hours of intervention by the teams, while the evacuation of the dense smoke that accumulated inside took several hours. The fire on the bulk carrier, which was moored in the Tuzla district of Istanbul, led to terrifying moments. The incident occurred in the Evliya Çelebi neighborhood. According to the information obtained, a fire broke out for an unknown reason in the material room located in the fore section of the 120-meter-long bulk carrier. The flames quickly grew, engulfing the ship in smoke and causing great panic in the vicinity.
CREW EVACUATED PROMPTLY
The ship's personnel, noticing the fire, were evacuated quickly with the help of shipyard officials. Upon notification of the incident, fire, police, AFAD, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Due to the risk of the fire spreading, numerous fire teams from surrounding districts were also directed to the area. The teams intervened from different points of the ship.
FLAMES EXTINGUISHED IN 2 HOURS
As a result of intense efforts, the fire was brought under control and extinguished after approximately two hours of intervention. Additionally, evacuation efforts were carried out for the dense smoke that accumulated inside the ship after the fire. The complete removal of smoke from the ship took about three hours.
CAUSE OF THE FIRE UNDER INVESTIGATION
According to initial assessments, there were no casualties or injuries in the fire, but it was learned that material damage occurred on the ship. An investigation has been initiated regarding the cause of the fire.
