Oman's Port of Salalah suspends operations after a drone strike ignites fuel storage tanks, according to Seatrade Maritime News.
Operations at Oman's Port of Salalah were suspended after fuel storage tanks caught fire following a drone attack, reported UK's Seatrade Maritime News.
Video footage showed oil tanks ablaze with the container terminal in the foreground. Maritime security firm Vanguard Tech stated that it was unclear whether the tanks were directly targeted or damaged by falling debris from intercepted drones.
Logistics company GAC confirmed that all terminal operations were suspended until further notice, citing a Port of Salalah customer advisory.
Maersk reported that its staff at the Salalah terminal had followed evacuation protocols and that operations were paused. The APM Terminals facility serves as a regional hub for Maersk and alliance partner Hapag-Lloyd under the Gemini Cooperation.
