IRELAND's Ryanair faces the worst strikes in its history after German pilots said they'll join a protest aimed at forcing the budget carrier to increase pay and improve working conditions

IRELAND's Ryanair faces the worst strikes in its history after German pilots said they'll join a protest aimed at forcing the budget carrier to increase pay and improve working conditions. The company said it will scrap more than 400 flights, disrupting travel for 55,000 people, said marketing chief Kenny Jacobs, reported Bloomberg.

This news came in the wake of the Vereinigung Cockpit union announcing that its members will walk out for 24 hours joining pilots in Belgium, Sweden and Ireland who are also striking that day.ot

Ryanair has refused to budge, saying it would not bow to demands that would jeopardise the low-cost base that's made it Europe's dominant carrier on short-haul routes.
