Qatar's ports saw a 13% increase in TEU handled in June, reflecting growth in vessel calls and cargo volumes, according to Arab News.
Qatari ports handled 78,002 TEU in June, a 13 per cent rise from May as vessel calls and cargo volumes increased, reported Jeddah's Arab News.
Mwani Qatar stated that the country's three commercial ports received 121 vessels during the month, marking a 21 per cent increase from May. These figures highlight the resilience of Qatar's logistics sector as it invests in infrastructure under its National Vision 2030 strategy.
Additionally, the ports processed nearly 23,000 tonnes of general cargo and more than 67,000 tonnes of bulk cargo, representing a 40 per cent increase. In the first half of 2026, they handled over 493,105 TEU, 273,325 tonnes of general cargo, 325,000 tonnes of bulk cargo, 25,000 roll-on/roll-off units, and 112,000 head of livestock across 866 vessels.
Mwani Qatar operates Hamad, Doha, and Al-Ruwais ports, which play a central role in facilitating trade and supporting supply chains. The latest figures come amid regional tensions, with Qatar relying on its ports to maintain steady flows.
The strong performance in June follows a robust 2025, when Qatar's ports handled more than 3,000 vessels, nearly 1.46 million containers, 1.85 million tonnes of general cargo, and 122,000 roll-on/roll-off units, underscoring their growing significance in regional trade.
