PSA Vietnam partners with Lach Huyen to develop a 4.5m TEU hub at Hai Phong, enhancing global trade connectivity and logistics infrastructure.
PSA Vietnam has signed a partnership with Lach Huyen International Logistics & Industrial Park to jointly develop and operate four deep-sea container berths at Lach Huyen Port in Hai Phong, reported the UK's Seatrade Maritime News.
The joint venture will create a 4.5 million TEU hub at North Vietnam's largest port, strengthening Hai Phong's role in global trade. Construction of the first two berths will begin at the end of this year, with completion scheduled for 2028. The remaining two berths are expected to be finished by 2035.
PSA said the new facility will enhance connectivity to international markets through established and emerging trade lanes, reinforcing Vietnam's position as a gateway in global supply chains.
The project complements PSA's inland container depot facilities in Bac Ninh, around 100 kilometres west of Hai Phong. Together, the depots and the new terminal will form an integrated logistics ecosystem linking inland cargo hubs with global shipping networks.
PSA International regional chief executive Southeast Asia Nelson Quek said Vietnam is one of Southeast Asia's most dynamic economies and the project reflects PSA's long-term commitment. He added that the hub will strengthen PSA's Node to Network strategy and enhance connectivity across regional and global supply chains.
LHF general director Nguyen Vinh Hau said the partnership combines PSA's global port expertise with local market knowledge and Hai Phong's Free Trade Zone advantages to build world-class infrastructure that will attract investment and support future trade growth.
