Prof. Dr. Soner Esmer, known for his academic work in maritime economics and port management, has started teaching at Piri Reis University. It has been reported that Esmer will be teaching students in the university's maritime and logistics-focused educational programs.
Prof. Dr. Soner Esmer began his academic career at the Faculty of Maritime Affairs at Dokuz Eylul University, where he served as a research assistant, lecturer, assistant professor, associate professor, and professor from 2002 to 2019. He received the title of professor in 2018. He later held the position of dean at the Faculty of Shipbuilding and Maritime at Iskenderun Technical University. Esmer then took on the role of Dean of the Faculty of Maritime at Kocaeli University.
Prof. Dr. Esmer's academic work focuses on port management, maritime transportation, transportation policies, logistics, and supply chain management. He has numerous scientific articles published in national and international academic journals and has participated in various research projects in the fields of port management and transportation.
With the courses he will begin at Piri Reis University, it is expected that Prof. Dr. Soner Esmer will share his experience that combines academic knowledge with industry practices with the students.
