Polestar will halt US sales starting 2027 as the US intensifies restrictions on Chinese vehicles, according to reports from Reuters.
Chinese-backed electric vehicle maker Polestar announced on Thursday that it will be forced to halt sales in the United States beginning with the 2027 model year, as Washington intensifies its crackdown on Chinese cars, reports Reuters.
The US Commerce Department denied Polestar approval under the Connected Vehicles Rule, which restricts imports and sales of cars utilizing connected-vehicle technology linked to China starting in 2027.
This rule encompasses Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular, and certain satellite communications systems, citing national security risks associated with vehicles potentially gathering sensitive data on American owners.
