Peter Dohle Schiffahrts orders two 3,100TEU feeders at Chengxi Shipyard, continuing its growth in container shipping with deliveries set for 2029.

German owner Peter Dohle Schiffahrts has added to its container fleet with a contract for two feeder newbuildings at Chengxi Shipyard in China, reports Singapore's Splash 247.

Shipbuilding sources indicate that the Hamburg-based company has ordered two 3,100TEU vessels at the CSSC-affiliated Jiangsu yard, which is better known for building other vessel classes. Each ship will feature approximately 900 reefer plugs and is priced at around US$48 million, with deliveries scheduled for 2029.

This deal continues a steady run of boxship contracting for Dohle in China. In 2025, the owner ordered four 2,900TEU feedermax vessels at CSSC Guangzhou Huangpu Wenchong, with deliveries planned between late 2027 and 2028.

The company has also been linked to five 8,400TEU LNG dual-fuel containerships at Guangzhou Shipyard International, each priced at about US$121 million.

In 2024, Peter Dohle, which controls more than 300 tramp containerships, ordered four 14,000TEU vessels at CSSC-affiliated Hudong Zhonghua, marking its first newbuild program in nearly nine years.
