Turkey has apprehended 1,110,991 irregular migrants since 2021, with 22,876 caught this year, primarily from Afghanistan and Syria.
Since 2021, a total of 1,110,991 irregular migrants have been apprehended in Turkey, with 22,876 captured this year.
According to data from the Ministry of Interior, the number of irregular migrants apprehended in Turkey was 162,996 in 2021, 285,027 in 2022, 254,008 in 2023, 225,831 in 2024, and 160,253 in 2025.
Over the last five years, the largest group of apprehended migrants has been nationals of Afghanistan, followed by Syrians in second place.
As of March 5 this year, 22,876 irregular migrants have been apprehended by security forces.
This year, the largest groups of apprehended migrants were from Afghanistan, Syria, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran.
