    The 'Nu-Shi Nalini' caught fire in Kerala’s Kochi district enroute from Karachi to Colombo on June 13, 2018. One crew member suffered 80% burns and was medevaced by helicopter. The tanker was anchored 14,5 miles southwest of Kochi in pos. 09° 49.89' N 076° 3.58' E when the fire broke out in the engine room following an explosion at 8.30 pm. The chemical tanker, which is carrying naphtha, had 22 crew members on board at the time. The Navy and the Coast Guard have launched a rescue operation. A Sea King 42C helicopter was put on alert if more crew members needed to be evacuated. The Navy sent the INS 'Kalpeni' to provide assistance. The Coast Guard has deployed a fast interceptor boat of the “Charlie'-class for the rescue operation. A tug was sent from the Cochin Port Trust.
