Mustafa Talha Pepe has been elected as the new Chairman of GYHİB, aiming to boost Turkey's maritime exports and strengthen the sector.
The ordinary electoral general assembly of the Ship, Yacht, and Services Exporters Union (GYHİB), one of the important umbrella organizations of the Turkish maritime sector, has been held.
The Ship, Yacht, and Services Exporters Union (GYHİB) conducted its ordinary general assembly meeting for the year 2025 in the previous term. During the meeting, exporters came together to approve the board of directors' operational, financial, and audit reports for 2025 and to determine the roadmap for 2026.
Completion of Eight-Year Term
Union President Cem Seven stated in his opening speech that he has completed his eight-year term and thanked the stakeholders who supported him. Following Seven, Mustafa Talha Pepe announced his candidacy for the presidency and expressed that if elected, they aim to elevate the sector to a stronger position internationally.

Goals of the New President
Pepe emphasized that in the new term, they will work harder with the strength gained from the union to increase Turkey's contribution to exports. After the speeches, the election of the board of directors' president, the main and substitute members of the audit committee, and the delegates who will represent the union at the General Assembly of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) was conducted.
Entering the elections with a single list, Mustafa Talha Pepe was elected as the President of the GYHİB Board of Directors. This change is seen as the beginning of a new era aimed at enhancing the export performance of the Turkish maritime sector.
Export Performance of the Turkish Maritime Sector
Turkey holds a significant position globally in ship and yacht production. According to data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly, the maritime vehicles and services sector achieved exports exceeding 2.5 billion dollars in 2024. Turkish shipyards hold a significant share in the European market, especially in luxury yacht production.
