Coast Guard Station Ketchikan personnel medevaced a man from the 'Lady Crystal' 34 miles southeast of Ketchikan, Alaska, on July 30, 2018. A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew transited to the pleasure craft Land took the 74-year-old man aboard the RB-M. He was safely transported to Ketchikan where awaiting emergency medical services personnel took him to Peace Health Ketchikan Medical Center. Coast Guard Sector Juneau watchstanders received a phone call from the Alaska State Troopers reporting a man fell, was unresponsive and he was going in and out of consciousness. A Coast Guard duty flight surgeon recommended the man get to higher level medical care. Sector Juneau watchstanders directed the launch of an RB-M crew to meet with the 'Lady Crystal'. By having the vessel transit toward the Station Ketchikan crew, the transit time was decreased. Weather on scene was 1-foot seas, 5-mph winds and 10 miles of visibility.
