A man who jumped from the 'Queen of Oak Bay' in the morning of Sep 26, 2018, was pulled from the water within five minutes and picked up by a waiting ambulance at Horseshoe Bay at 10:30, just as the ferry was coming in to Horseshoe Bay. The ferry crew launched a rescue boat to bring the man to safety. The incident led to the cancellation of the 11 a.m. sailing from Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay and the 1:15 p.m. sailing from Departure Bay to Horseshoe Bay.
