Low water levels in the Danube hinder two ferry services, while other border crossings remain unaffected, according to BGNES reports.
BGNES, reporting on the morning data from the Bulgarian Border Police, stated that traffic at other crossings on the Romanian border is proceeding normally. However, the low water level in the Danube is preventing the reactivation of two ferry lines.
The operator of the Svishtov–Zimnicea line announced that services will commence as soon as conditions allow for safe passage. Normally, the river crossing on this line, which operates with a single ferry, takes approximately 15 minutes. The vehicle deck can accommodate trucks, buses, and cars.
This line serves as an alternative to the Ruse–Giurgiu Bridge for vehicles traveling from Bulgaria to Central and Western Europe. According to the operator, this route also bypasses the heavy traffic on the Bucharest ring road. No date has been provided in the bulletin for the reopening of the two lines.
