Uzmar and Sanmar secure Kocaeli-2 tugboat tender, enhancing İzmit Bay operations for 20 years with a 75.5% public share rate.
Power Alliance in İzmit Bay: Giant Tender Won by Uzmar-Sanmar Joint Venture Group
The tender for tugboat services in the Kocaeli-2 Regional Service Area, which encompasses strategic industrial ports, terminal piers, and coastal structures in İzmit Bay, organized by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, has concluded. The giant tender, which was initiated with a temporary guarantee fee of 21 million 115 thousand TL and will transfer the operating rights for a period of 20 years, was won by the Joint Venture Group (OGG) formed by Turkey's two global maritime brands, Uzmar and Sanmar. The winning bid in the tender reached a remarkably high public share rate of 75.5%, drawing significant attention in the sector.
Two Giants of the Sector Shoulder to Shoulder
The result of the tender demonstrated a successful collaboration between two established and powerful representatives of the Turkish maritime sector. In the joint venture, İzmir-based Uzmar Tugboat Services, founded by the late 'Beybaba' Captain Altay Altuğ and now achieving global successes under the management of Noyan Altuğ and Kaan Altuğ, combined forces with another giant of the sector, Sanmar Maritime.
On the Sanmar front, a global brand in shipbuilding and tugboat services, this significant achievement was realized through the visionary leadership and equal-weighted synergy of the late Gökçen Seven and veteran Orhan Gürün's sons, Ali Gürün and Cem Seven. The strategic alignment of the top management of both companies played a key role in undertaking operations in a critical area like Kocaeli-2.
Global Brands in Pilotage and Tugboat Construction
Both Uzmar and Sanmar are recognized as leading brands not only in Turkey but also worldwide in shipbuilding and tugboat operations.
Uzmar: Known for its innovative investments in shipbuilding as well as pilotage and towing services. The company had previously proven its steady growth in the sector by winning the Samsun Regional Service Area tender in February with a 41% public share offer.
Sanmar: Under the dynamic and joint management of Ali Gürün and Cem Seven, Sanmar Maritime stands out as one of Turkey's undisputed locomotive groups in tugboat construction and global exports.
This strategic partnership between the two giants is regarded as the beginning of a new era in maritime and port operations in İzmit Bay, adhering to international standards.
