Muhammed Ali Oflaz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of KARDEMİR, and his accompanying delegation visited the Filyos Turkey Petroleum Port, hosted by Cem Erdem, General Manager of Turkey Petroleum.
During their visit, the delegation examined the ongoing operations at the port and evaluated cooperation opportunities for more effective utilization of Filyos in regional industry and foreign trade. Discussions focused on the strategic role of Filyos Port as a logistics center for ongoing oil and natural gas activities in the Black Sea, as well as efforts to transform it into an important commercial port that will serve the industrial production and trade capacity of surrounding provinces.
Logistics Needs of Karabük Industry Were Addressed
In the meetings, the logistics needs of industrial organizations operating in Karabük, Zonguldak, Bartın, and surrounding provinces, primarily KARDEMİR, were assessed. In this context, possible cooperation models regarding the transportation of raw material supplies and import and export loads through Filyos Port were emphasized.
It was noted that the more effective use of Filyos Port in the logistics processes of the regional industry could contribute to reducing transportation costs and enhancing the competitiveness of businesses in the area. Strengthening the Commercial Function of Filyos is Aimed
During the visit, in addition to potential joint projects that could be developed between KARDEMİR and Filyos Port, opportunities that could be evaluated to increase the commercial capacity of the port and respond more effectively to the needs of the regional industry were discussed.
As part of the efforts carried out by Turkey Petroleum, the aim is to develop Filyos as a port with modern and technological infrastructure. The port, which has a strong transportation network with railway and road connections, is planned to become one of the centers of logistics activities.
Port Goal Compatible with Green Transformation
In evaluations regarding the future of Filyos Port, it was emphasized that strengthening the logistics infrastructure should go hand in hand with environmental sustainability. Turkey Petroleum aims to create a structure in port operations that utilizes modern technologies and is compatible with green transformation policies. If the collaborations to be developed with KARDEMİR are realized, it is expected that Filyos Port will assume a more significant role in the raw material and foreign trade processes of the regional industry, particularly in Karabük. The efforts also aim to contribute to making Filyos an important logistics and trade center on a regional scale and enhancing the competitiveness of industrial organizations.
