India is becoming a key cross-border fulfilment hub for global trade, driven by infrastructure growth and rising parcel flows to major markets.

India is rapidly positioning itself as a cross-border fulfilment node for international trade, reported London's Air Cargo Week.

Growth in Grade A warehousing, airport cargo capacity, and multimodal infrastructure is driving the shift from a sourcing base to a logistics hub.

Rising parcel flows are increasingly tied to direct-to-consumer exports into North America, Europe, and the Middle East. Operators are investing in automation, digital platforms, and fulfilment systems to handle higher volumes. AI adoption is improving demand forecasting, routing, warehouse optimisation, and customs documentation.

Harald Oechsner of WCA eCommerce Solutions stated that cross-border parcel flows from India are rising quickly, with local operators adapting infrastructure to support them. Steve Howard of WCA Courier Solutions noted that India's strong consumer base creates demand density that accelerates logistics efficiency.

Government-backed port, airport, and freight corridor projects are reducing bottlenecks, while digital payments and customs automation are lowering friction in cross-border trade.

AI is increasingly embedded in logistics operations, supporting predictive routing, warehouse slotting, and compliance management. Large multinationals are building proprietary frameworks, while smaller operators adopt cloud-based modular solutions.

The 6th Annual WCA eCommerce Solutions Conference will be held in Barcelona from 6-8 June 2026, bringing together global leaders to discuss market trends, last-mile innovation, and cross-border logistics collaboration.
