CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding has contracted with EGPN Bulk Carrier for two 1,900 TEU 'SWAN'-class container ships, enhancing its order backlog.

CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding has signed a contract with Hong Kong-based EGPN Bulk Carrier for two 1,900 TEU 'SWAN'-class container ships, reports Shanghai's iMarine.

The deal was concluded on July 3 in cooperation with China Shipbuilding Trading Co Ltd, a unit of China State Shipbuilding Corporation. This order adds to a growing backlog for Huangpu Wenchong's 'SWAN' series.

The shipyard stated that nearly 30 vessels of this class have been booked so far, with the line expanding from feeder ships into medium-sized container vessels. In the first half of 2026, Huangpu Wenchong maintained the top global market share in feeder ship orders.

The 1,900 TEU 'SWAN' design, developed in-house, is promoted for its loading efficiency, port adaptability, and energy-saving performance. Since its launch in 2020, the type has been refined through successive iterations and has gained traction among leading shipowners.
