Hafnia orders eight medium-range tankers from Hyundai Heavy Industries for $405 million, ensuring early delivery slots and enhanced competitiveness.

Hafnia has ordered eight medium-range product tankers worth US$405 million from Hyundai Heavy Industries, reported Denmark's Shipping Telegraph.

The New York-listed shipowner confirmed the contract, with deliveries scheduled between the third quarter of 2028 and the second quarter of 2029. Chief Executive Mikael Skov stated that the program secures early delivery slots at a leading yard and builds on proven fuel-efficient designs.

Mr. Skov added that the series will deliver scale benefits and predictable performance while strengthening earnings quality and supporting the disciplined renewal of Hafnia's MR segment. He emphasized that the newbuilds will enhance customer offerings, improve competitiveness, and support decarbonization goals.

Hafnia operates 200 vessels and provides a fully integrated shipping platform, including technical management, commercial and chartering services, pool management, and bunker procurement.

The company is part of BW Group, an international shipping conglomerate involved in oil and gas transport, floating gas infrastructure, environmental technologies, and deep-water production, with offices in Singapore, Copenhagen, Houston, and Dubai.
