Goldenport Shipmanagement orders three 1,800 TEU feeder ships from Qingshan Shipyard, with deliveries set for 2027 and 2028.
Goldenport Shipmanagement has ordered three 1,800 TEU feeder containerships from China Merchants Shipbuilding Qingshan Shipyard, with deliveries scheduled for 2027 and 2028, reports Shanghai's iMarine.
The deal marks Goldenport's entry into the wave of Greek owners investing in feeder vessels at Chinese yards. Clarksons confirmed that the order was finalized earlier this year.
Qingshan Shipyard, which had exited shipbuilding in 2018 after a 69-year history, announced plans to restart operations in 2024 and is resuming its core business in 2026. The yard is focusing on small-to-medium, high-value vessels.
Since early 2026, the shipyard has secured multiple contracts, including ten 1,800 TEU ships for Zhonggu Logistics worth up to CNY2.7 billion (US$390 million), four 1,800 TEU ships for Sinotrans Container Lines valued at CNY940 million, and two multi-purpose vessels.
The yard has also launched a CNY700 million project to upgrade its intelligent manufacturing capacity for eco-friendly vessels, including smart workshops, digital systems, equipment replacement, and environmental protection measures.
Goldenport's order is part of a broader fleet renewal strategy. The company has also placed orders for two 63,500 DWT Ultramax bulk carriers at Nantong Xiangyu Offshore & Marine Engineering for delivery in 2029.
Data from Clarksons shows that Goldenport operates 29 bulk carriers and container ships. Oceangold Tankers, controlled by John Dragnis, has additional gas carrier orders at South Korean yards.
