Istanbul's Üsküdar Municipality operation leads to the detention of Mayor Sinem Dedetaş and five others amid building permit irregularities.
This morning, the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office conducted an operation at the Üsküdar Municipality. Within the scope of the investigation regarding allegations of irregularities in building permits and occupancy processes, six individuals, including Mayor Sinem Dedetaş, were taken into custody.
The Chamber of Marine Engineers (TMMOB GMO) released a statement regarding Dedetaş's detention.
In the statement, it was expressed, 'We have learned with sadness that Ms. Sinem Dedetaş, the President of the 44th Term Management Board of the TMMOB Chamber of Marine Engineers and a member of our chamber with registration number 2352, has been taken into custody.' The statement further included, 'We hope that the process will be clarified as soon as possible within the framework of the principles of the rule of law, the right to a fair trial, and respect for fundamental rights and freedoms, and that it will result positively.'
