The Ship Brokers Association (GBD) celebrated its 16th anniversary on the evening of May 4th, Monday, with the 169th Brokers’ Monday event held at The Monk in Kadıköy, Istanbul.
The organization saw a strong turnout from the maritime community, where association members, brokers, and industry stakeholders came together to create a robust networking environment.
“The First Seed Became a Giant Plane Tree”
In his speech at the event, GBD President Onur Türkeş expressed that the association embarked on its journey 16 years ago with a vision to build a port together. Türkeş noted that today they approach this port not one year older, but one year stronger and more rooted, emphasizing that the first seed has transformed into a giant plane tree.
Türkeş highlighted that brokers are not merely individuals who connect ships, but rather a large family that shoulders the dynamism, friendship, and solidarity of the industry. He expressed that despite changing markets and challenging conditions, their professional passion has never diminished.
One of the most special moments of the night was the cutting of the 16th-anniversary cake by the members of the GBD Board of Directors together on stage. Throughout the organization, the logos of supporting sponsors were projected on stage, thanking all stakeholders who contributed to this journey.
The First Place Trophy Goes to Aqua
