On June 2, 2018, at 11.45 a.m., a fire broke out in the superstructure of the 'Sormovskiy-45' at a Dnieper river dock of the Kherson shipyard of the Smart Meritime Group. Firefighters were called and responded with 25 men, among them five experts for ship fires. They had the fire under control at 1 p.m. It covered an area of 100 square meters and had spread from the end of a corridor to the cabins and the navigation deck. The fire was under control around 1 p.m. It caused signifcant damage in the accomodation block. No injuries were reported. The origin of the fire were sparks caused a welding team of the ship's crew due to a violation of safety rules.
