Finnair Cargo will insource operations at Helsinki's Cargo COOL terminal from Swissport Finland by 2027, impacting 150 employees.
Finnair Cargo will take over operations of the Cargo COOL terminal at Helsinki Airport from Swissport Finland at the end of 2026, reports London's Air Cargo News.
Gabriela Hiitola, senior vice president of Finnair Cargo, stated that the decision followed continuous evaluation of operations and is intended to enhance ways of working and support growth.
Approximately 150 Swissport Finland staff currently working at the terminal will transfer to Finnair Cargo in January 2027, retaining their employment status.
Hiitola expressed that the company welcomes the transferring employees and looks forward to continuing Cargo COOL operations as one team.
Finnair Cargo outsourced warehouse and transport operations in 2009, with Swissport Finland taking over in 2019.
The carrier currently employs about 110 air cargo professionals, meaning the transfer will more than double its workforce.
