FedEx introduces Life Sciences to enhance healthcare logistics, ensuring reliable delivery of critical medical supplies and devices.
FedEx Corp. has announced the creation of FedEx Life Sciences, a dedicated organization to handle complex healthcare shipments, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and clinical trial materials, as reported in the press release.
The new unit combines the FedEx global network with specialized healthcare teams and advanced monitoring systems. It aims to provide precision, visibility, and reliability for patient-critical deliveries across regulated markets.
Nick Gennari has been appointed president of healthcare and life sciences. He joined FedEx in 1992 and has led the healthcare vertical since 2024. His team has helped grow FedEx healthcare revenue to about US$10 billion worldwide.
Brie Carere, executive vice president and chief customer officer, stated that the new organization will ensure supply chains are smarter and more resilient. She emphasized that every shipment could be vital to a patient awaiting care.
FedEx Life Sciences builds on recent investments, including IATA CEIV Pharma Corporate Certification in 2025 and the appointment of a vice president of global quality. The company has also opened six Life Sciences Centres and added a direct flight between Indianapolis and Dublin to strengthen pharmaceutical connectivity.
The unit will be supported by FedEx Surround, a monitoring service using machine learning to provide proactive visibility and intervention for critical shipments. Mr. Gennari mentioned that the initiative will give customers stronger coordination and expertise when every delivery matters.
