CMA CGM has completed its $1.4B acquisition of FedEx Supply Chain, boosting its logistics presence in North America and enhancing service offerings.

CMA CGM Group has completed its acquisition of FedEx Supply Chain for an enterprise value of $1.4 billion. The transaction, first announced on July 1, 2026, closed on October 1, 2026, with both companies confirming completion that day. The deal strengthens CMA CGM's logistics presence in North America and establishes multi-year commercial agreements covering air and ocean freight.

The acquired business will integrate into CEVA Logistics, CMA CGM's logistics subsidiary, a move that nearly triples the subsidiary's North American contract-logistics footprint. The transaction adds approximately 34 million square feet of warehouse space and nearly 150 warehouses, taking CEVA's total North American presence to more than 240 locations.

On the workforce side, the deal adds nearly 10,000 employees to the CEVA network, bringing its North American headcount to approximately 20,000. This scale positions CEVA to serve a broader range of contract-logistics clients across diverse industries, reinforcing its standing as a dependable partner for companies that depend on reliable, high-capacity warehousing and distribution.

For freight forwarders orchestrating complex supply chains, the expanded footprint translates into denser warehouse coverage, closer proximity to key consumption markets, and a wider menu of value-added services that can be tailored to individual client contracts.

The transaction combines FedEx Supply Chain's digital and operational capabilities with CEVA's existing network. The integration is designed to accelerate automation and robotics across warehousing operations, strengthening speed, accuracy, and throughput for shippers and importers alike.

By broadening its ability to deliver integrated services spanning ocean shipping, terminals, inland transportation, warehousing, and value-added logistics, CEVA advances its end-to-end strategy. For importers and buyers focused on total landed cost, inventory turnover, and quick market entry, a single provider coordinating these links can reduce handoffs and support tighter cash-flow planning. The acquisition also reinforces CMA CGM's long-term investment commitment to the United States.

Alongside the acquisition, CMA CGM and FedEx entered into multi-year commercial agreements spanning two modes of transport.

Under the ocean freight agreement, CMA CGM becomes a preferred, non-exclusive ocean carrier for FedEx. The arrangement strengthens cargo flows between the two organizations while preserving flexibility for both parties.

In air cargo, the two companies will cooperate on capacity across selected strategic routes, including Asia-Europe corridors. This cooperation aims to improve aircraft utilization and add long-haul capacity flexibility - a development that supports shippers and forwarders managing time-sensitive, high-value freight on intercontinental lanes.

For FedEx, the sale forms part of its ongoing transformation to simplify its portfolio, sharpen its focus, and concentrate capital and management resources on its core transportation activities.

FedEx CEO Raj Subramaniam said the company is building a more focused FedEx centered on its global transportation network while continuing to expand in high-value vertical markets.

The transaction reflects two complementary strategic directions. CMA CGM is expanding its logistics platform through CEVA, building scale, automation, and vertical depth across North America. FedEx is simplifying its portfolio and concentrating on its core transportation business.

For the freight forwarders, shippers, importers, and buyers who depend on both networks, the outcome is a larger, more automated contract-logistics platform under CEVA, paired with reinforced ocean and air connections between two of the industry's most established names. This is not merely a change of ownership - it is a recalibration of how integrated logistics capacity is built and delivered across global trade lanes.
