Erdemir will produce 40,000 tons of steel for Turkey's National Aircraft Carrier (MUGEM), supporting the country's largest naval project.
It has been announced that the steel requirements for the National Aircraft Carrier (MUGEM), which is planned to be the largest ship in the inventory of the Turkish Navy, will be met by the integrated steel producer OYAK company Erdemir.
Erdemir reported that it will produce approximately 40,000 tons of ship plates required for the MUGEM project. It was noted that supply agreements have been signed with the Sedef and Sefine shipyards as part of the project preparations. The first batch shipment of the planned plates was delivered to the manufacturers of MUGEM at the end of January.
Erdemir, which is a domestic producer of plate products in Turkey and one of the most critical inputs for the realization of the project, stated that it provides a strong contribution to MUGEM, one of the largest projects of the Turkish defense industry, with its engineering power, high production capacity, and production that meets international quality standards.
Erdemir indicated that the steels to be used in the construction of MUGEM are manufactured in its plate rolling mill. The company, which uses direct iron ore as its main raw material, ensures quality by meticulously controlling every stage of production, from the chemical composition of the steel to its mechanical performance.
It was noted that the steel products produced for MUGEM stand out with their superior weldability and formability characteristics, as well as high toughness and strength values.
