The cruise ship company Hapag Lloyd Cruises was facing an angry backlash after an employee shot and killed a polar bear. The polar bear attacked and injured a polar bear guard who was planning to lead tourists off the 'Bremen' on an Arctic archipelago on July 28, 2018. The bear was shot dead by another employee. The attack occurred on an island in the Svalbard archipelago — a region between mainland Norway and the North Pole known for its remote terrain, glaciers, reindeer and polar bears. The bear was shot dead “in an act of self-defense” by the second guard. The injured man was taken by helicopter to the town of Longyearbyen on Spitsbergen island. He had a head wound that was not life-threatening and was in stable condition on July 29. Report with photo: www.euronews.com/...
