Dubai enhances its global trade role with a logistics bridge by Dubai Customs and Emirates SkyCargo, boosting cargo volumes significantly.
Dubai has strengthened its role as a global trade hub through an integrated logistics bridge developed by Dubai Customs and Emirates SkyCargo, reported Dubai's Emirates 24/7.
The system, implemented at Dubai International Airport Cargo Village and Al Maktoum International Airport Air Cargo Centre, has accelerated customs clearance and supported food and pharmaceutical security across GCC markets.
Imported goods cleared through both facilities rose from 26.6 million kilograms in January 2026 to 48.2 million kilograms in May, marking an increase of more than 82 percent. Maximum daily volumes climbed from 1.24 million kilograms to 2.11 million kilograms.
Dubai Customs stated that the initiative has helped maintain supply chain continuity across the Gulf. Cooperation with Emirates SkyCargo included 529 truck trips transporting 2,636 tonnes of food, pharmaceuticals, and general cargo.
Abdulla bin Damithan, chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, remarked that the project reflects the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, making resilience and preparedness defining strengths of Dubai's economy.
Abdulla Busenad, Director General of Dubai Customs, emphasized that the initiative demonstrates the strength of integration between government and strategic partners. He added that Dubai Customs will continue advancing smart services under the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
Programs such as the Green Corridor and Shahin provided fast pathways for priority shipments. Expanded inspection activities and new inspection windows reduced congestion and maintained smooth flows during peak demand.
Badr Abbas, Divisional Senior Vice President at Emirates SkyCargo, stated that the results reinforce Dubai's position as a global hub for air cargo and logistics. He added that Emirates SkyCargo will continue investing in smart solutions to support global trade growth.
