Danish Yachts are to build the first in their second series of carbon fibre SWATH vessels, due for delivery in 2014 for operation in Northern Europe. With construction already underway, this will bring the fleet total to five vessels by the middle of next year, achieved in just eighteen months.The design of the vessel will include a restyle of the superstructure to provide enhanced all round vision from the bridge, as well as a lower centre of gravity in the hull form. Danish Yachts’ new build 124 will also feature the compression/vacuum active trim system allowing fast transfer between CAT and SWATH modes.Additionally, the Design Teams at the shipyard in Skagen are currently working on new designs for different sizes of SWATH vessels, suited to either the offshore wind farm industry or other offshore industries such as oil and gas.Patrik von Sydow, CEO at Danish Yachts said, “We are absolutely delighted to be adding to our fleet of SWATH vessels – this underlines the view that carbon fibre is the future with its longevity and cost savings over the life of each vessel.
