Cosco Shipping orders six 3,000-TEU containerships for CNY1.98 billion, enhancing its fleet and adhering to governance standards.
Cosco Shipping has commissioned six 3,000-TEU containerships in a CNY1.98 billion (US$28.3 million) connected deal, reported Tel Aviv's TipRanks.
The order was placed through subsidiary COSCO Asset Management with affiliate Heavy Industry (Zhoushan). Deliveries are scheduled between June and December 2028.
The transaction is classified as connected under Hong Kong Listing Rules due to common control by 1.98. It will be financed through offshore debt or bank loans covering up to 60 percent of each vessel's price, along with internal resources.
Aggregated with previous related-party deals, the agreement remains subject only to reporting, annual review, and announcement requirements. Analysts said the move underscores COSCO's fleet expansion strategy while highlighting governance and compliance scrutiny around connected transactions.
