Coast Guard Authority to Hire 173 Permanent Workers
The Coast Guard Authority (KEGM) will hire 173 permanent workers to be assigned to various positions. According to the announcement published in the Official Gazette, applications will be made through İŞKUR.
The announcement regarding the hiring of 173 permanent workers by the Coast Guard Authority was published in the Official Gazette dated August 17, 2026. The recruitment will include personnel in various titles, covering maritime operations as well as engineering and office services.
The largest quotas are for seamen and oilers.
Within the scope of the announcement, a total of 152 positions have been allocated, including 80 seamen and 72 oilers. In addition, 8 second captains, 8 second engineers, 2 engineers, 1 pilot captain, and 2 office personnel will be hired.
Thus, the total quota reaches 173 individuals.
Applications will be made through İŞKUR.
Candidates' applications will be accepted through the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR). The announcement specifically states that applications made directly to the Coast Guard Authority will not be considered valid. Candidates can submit their applications via İŞKUR's website or in person at İŞKUR service centers.
Applications are expected to start on August 17 and end on August 21, 2026.
Special conditions required for maritime positions.
For the positions of seamen, oilers, second captains, and second engineers, which constitute a significant part of the recruitment, candidates must possess relevant maritime qualifications and certifications.
For example, for the seaman position, candidates must have a valid minimum of a Master Seaman or higher qualification, relevant STCW and other current international certificates, and at least 3 years of sea service. Candidates for this position must not have reached the age of 36 as of the application deadline.
There are also specific age and educational conditions for the positions of engineers, office personnel, seamen, and oilers. In some positions, the KPSS score will also be included in the evaluation.
How will the examination process work?
After the candidate lists are delivered to the Coast Guard Authority by İŞKUR, the process will move on to the oral examination or interview stage. The location, date, and time of the exam will be announced later by the institution.
For the positions of second captain, second engineer, pilot captain, and engineer, the exam will consist of topics including the Constitution, Atatürk's Principles and History of Revolution, the duties of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, and the responsibilities of the Coast Guard Authority, along with professional knowledge and qualifications. To be considered successful, the average score given by the examination board must be at least 60.
Office personnel candidates will be evaluated in areas such as the Constitution, Atatürk's Principles and History of Revolution, the duties of the Ministry and the Coast Guard Authority, Labor Law, and general culture.
The primary and reserve candidate lists will be announced on the Coast Guard Authority's website. No written notification will be sent to the candidates listed.
