COAST Autonomous Inc, a pioneer in AI and autonomous systems, has forged a strategic partnership with Nexxiot, a leader in asset intelligence, reports the American Journal of Transportation. The aim of this collaboration is to enhance efficiency, security and safety in logistics operations.

The partnership combines COAST's autonomous technology with Nexxiot's expertise in digitising shipping containers and railcars, ultimately optimising port and rail yard operations.

COAST specialises in deploying fleets of self-driving vehicles to address various industrial use cases, including crew transportation, equipment and supplies delivery, and movement of shipping containers.

Their ground-up development of the Harvester, a self-driving vehicle capable of providing real-time, location-accurate inventories of shipping containers, trailers, and automobiles, stands out.

The Harvester is also valuable in bolstering security for industrial and sensitive locations, monitoring fence lines and identifying intruders.

COAST's proprietary Autonomous Systems encompass mapping, robotics, AI, fleet management, and supervision, all designed with safety as a top priority.

Nexxiot, recognised for its digitisation efforts in shipping container and railcar asset fleets, brings a network of self-powered sensors and analytics that offer crucial insights into supply chain operations.

Integrating data from Nexxiot's intermodal and rail assets with COAST vehicles will enhance visibility in ports and rail yards. This partnership is anticipated to yield commercial benefits for various stakeholders in the logistics industry by elevating real-time data fusion capabilities.

'We are combining data streams in innovative ways. For instance, sensors can automatically request a COAST vehicle in response to an unexpected opening, providing real-time video data for inspection,' said Nexxiot CEO Stefan Kalmund.

'We will also use the partnership to offer precise location services to large ports and terminals, including the confirmation of rail car locations and container positions within stacks.'
