CMA CGM announces a $900 per TEU surcharge for Asia-Med cargo starting June 15, alongside new Freight All Kind rates for various regions.
CMA CGM will impose a US$900 per TEU peak season surcharge on cargo from Asian main ports to the Mediterranean and North Africa starting June 15, reports Saint Petersburg's PortNews.
The surcharge for 40-foot containers (FEUs) will be $1,800. Additionally, CMA CGM has announced new Freight All Kind (FAK) rates for the same trades, effective June 15.
For the West Mediterranean, the rates are set at $4,800 per TEU and $6,500 per FEU. In the Adriatic region, the rates are $4,900 per TEU and $6,600 per FEU, respectively.
Rates for the East Mediterranean, Black Sea, Syria, Egypt, and Turkey are $5,300 per 20-foot container and $6,700 per 40-foot container. North Africa rates are higher, with Algeria priced at $6,500 per 20-foot container and $9,200 per 40-foot container.
Tunisia, Libya, and Morocco are listed at $5,900 per TEU and $7,400 per FEU. CMA CGM stated that the FAK rates include basic freight, bunker surcharges, ETS, and LLS; however, terminal handling, safety, security, and local charges may also apply.
The company has identified this levy as a Peak Season Surcharge. CMA CGM, headquartered in Marseille, operates container liner shipping, port terminals, and logistics businesses, including CEVA Logistics.
