CMA CGM has received its fifth 15,000 TEU methanol-capable vessel, CMA CGM Berenice, from Jiangnan Shipyard, expanding its eco-friendly fleet.
French carrier CMA CGM has taken delivery of its fifth 15,000 TEU methanol-capable vessel from China's Jiangnan Shipyard, reported Singapore's Engine Online.
The new ship, CMA CGM Berenice, is part of a six-vessel series equipped with dual-fuel engines that can run on both methanol and conventional fuels. The first four units were delivered earlier this year.
CMA CGM plans to operate a total of 24 methanol-capable vessels, which will include 12 ships of 13,000 TEU, six of 15,000 TEU, and six of 9,300 TEU that will be retrofitted for methanol propulsion.
China's Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry has been contracted to carry out the retrofits, according to reports.
The French liner aims to expand its combined LNG- and methanol-capable fleet to 200 vessels by 2030.
