CMA CGM and CCCC sign MOU to enhance collaboration in logistics, infrastructure, and energy transition across key global regions.
CMA CGM, the global leader in sea, land, and air transport and logistics solutions, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with China Communications Construction Company Ltd. (CCCC), one of the world's foremost integrated providers of major infrastructure services. The agreement establishes a framework for deepened collaboration across port infrastructure, logistics, transport, innovation, and energy transition.
The MOU was signed by Rodolphe Saade, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CMA CGM, and Zhang Bingnan, President of CCCC - a milestone that formalizes and advances a partnership already rooted in shared strategic ambition.
The agreement unites CCCC's proven expertise in large-scale infrastructure development and construction with CMA CGM's global shipping network and its established capabilities across port terminals, end-to-end logistics, and maritime solutions. Priority geographies for collaboration include Africa, China, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.
Under the terms of the MOU, CMA CGM and CCCC intend to explore opportunities that bring together CCCC's infrastructure development and construction projects with CMA CGM's operational expertise in logistics and transport. The two groups will also investigate ways to strengthen port-hinterland connectivity through sustainable multimodal logistics infrastructure - encompassing logistics corridors, inland ports, container yards, warehouses, and logistics platforms.
The parties further intend to explore opportunities for CMA CGM and CEVA Logistics to provide shipping and project logistics solutions in support of CCCC's major international infrastructure undertakings - positioning the collaboration as a comprehensive, end-to-end proposition across some of the world's most strategically significant development corridors.
This MOU builds upon an established relationship between CMA CGM and CCCC, including cooperation conducted through CCCC subsidiaries such as China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd. (CHEC). CHEC has already partnered with CMA CGM across several strategic port projects: at Lekki Free Zone Terminal in Nigeria, CMA Terminals and CHEC operate as container terminal partners; at Kribi Container Terminal in Cameroon, the two companies are jointly advancing a critical gateway for trade in Central Africa.
ZPMC, a CCCC subsidiary, has maintained a partnership with CMA CGM since 2004, with ZPMC port machinery equipment operating at many of CMA CGM's most strategically important terminals worldwide. As CMA CGM's global footprint continues to expand, ZPMC is positioned to deepen its involvement in port development - delivering services defined by efficiency, quality, and technical excellence.
Innovation and decarbonization represent a further dimension of the partnership. CMA CGM and CCCC intend to explore the deployment of digital and artificial intelligence solutions to support higher levels of automation and operational efficiency across port terminals and inland logistics platforms.
The two groups will also investigate lower-carbon port and supply chain solutions, including renewable energy projects and infrastructure capable of supporting the use of alternative fuels for vessels, barges, trains, and port equipment.
These areas of collaboration align directly with CMA CGM's ambition to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and with the Group's broader strategy to build supply chains that are more efficient, more resilient, and more sustainable - not simply as operational objectives, but as defining commitments to the future of global trade.
