CMA CGM Amerigo loop adds Miami with breakbulk, outsize, hazmat capacityMARSEILLES' CMA CGM, the world's third biggest container shipping company, will add a weekly call to the Port of Miami from October 1 on its new Amerigo Service as it develops market opportunities in Florida and Mexico,

CMA CGM will provide more out-of-gauge, breakbulk, hazardous material (IMO) cargo and reefer capacity on this service, which will also give better access to Miami distribution centres and warehouses as well as to those in Mexico.

The new Amerigo service will start without interruption with the current service, leaving Livorno (aka Leghorn in Tuscany) on October 2 on its west-bound leg and New York on October 20 on its east-bound return.

The service will deploy six CMA CGM ships and take 42 days on its rotation through Malta, Livorno, Genoa, Marseilles/Fos-sur-mer, Barcelona, Valencia (west bound), New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Miami, Tangiers, Valencia (east bound) and back to Malta.

The new offer of service to Mexico is based on a weekly connection with Victory Bridge in Miami, allowing the development of the West Med/Mexico trade, with a faster transit times with transshipment in Miami, which maintains links to Houston via the Florida loop.

CMA CGM control of operations means optimised vessel planning, more out-of-gauge, breakbulk, IMO and reefer capacity, coverage of West Med port as well as Florida and access to the Mexican market via Miami, as well schedule reliability, the company said.
