Ciner Group orders 6 Ultramax vessels from China for $204 million, with deliveries scheduled between late 2028 and early 2029.
It is stated that the unit price of the ships, each with a capacity of 64,000 DWT, is approximately 34 million dollars, and the total order value has reached 204 million dollars.
Deliveries are planned to be carried out in batches between the last quarter of 2028 and the beginning of 2029.
It is noted that the order was placed through the maritime branch of the group led by Vasileios Papakalodoukas.
This agreement demonstrates that the Ciner Group has previously signed numerous Ultramax contracts and continues its long-standing collaboration with the New Dayang Shipyard, which is under the control of SUMEC.
Growth in the Ultramax Fleet
According to market sources, with the latest order, the number of Ultramax ships at the New Dayang Shipyard belonging to the Ciner Group has reached at least 14.
The Istanbul-based group has been among the most active investors in the bulk carrier segment in the shipyard market in recent years. The company has built a significant order portfolio of approximately 40 vessels across different segments in less than four years.
Diversification of Orders
In addition to the Ultramax program, the Ciner Group continues to invest in different segments.
Among the company’s orders are container ships with a capacity of 3,100 TEU, planned for delivery by the end of 2025, as well as larger bulk carriers being constructed at the Hengli Shipyard in Dalian, China.
Deliveries of these 82,000 DWT capacity vessels are expected to begin by March 2027.
