THE Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CS) has announced that it will require all unmanned aircraft (UA), with a total weight exceeding 250 grammes, to register with CS before it can be flown in Singapore, effective from January. A one-time registration fee of S$15 (US$1.04) per unmanned aircraft will be collected at the point of purchase of the registration label. This is within the S$20 that was recommended by the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Advisory Panel (UASAP).

Unmanned aircraft users can purchase the registration labels online or over the counter at any of the designated Singapost post offices from January 2, and log on to the UA portal to complete the registration process.

UA users will have a three-month grace period from January 2 to register their unmanned aircraft. From April 2, it will become an offence to operate or fly an unregistered UA in Singapore. Offenders could face a fine of up to S$10,000 and/or imprisonment not exceeding six months.
