A fire broke out on a boat over the sea at the Balat coast in Fatih, Istanbul, for reasons yet to be determined. While the father and son on the boat jumped into the sea to save themselves, the fire on the vessel was extinguished with the intervention of another boat.
The incident occurred yesterday around 14:30 on the diver boat named 'Denizbeyi' off the Golden Horn. A fire broke out on the boat for reasons that are still unknown. The father and son on board panicked. One person was injured after colliding with the anchor. The father and son jumped into the sea to escape the fire. Upon notification from bystanders, police, medical, and fire teams were dispatched to the scene.
Those on other boats who witnessed the fire helped the father and son in the water, first bringing them onto a boat and then to the shore. The person who was slightly injured while on the boat with his father was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
The burning boat was extinguished by the Coast Guard teams. The vessel has become unusable.
