    A formal inquiry examining the impact of slow steaming on supply chains, fuel surcharges and shippers’ businesses was launched in late January by the FMC.   Shippers have been asked to comment on how slow steaming has affected business and fuel costs, transit speed options and competitiveness in overseas markets.
