Young designers can now apply until September 4, 2026, for Turkey's National Ship and Yacht Design Competition focused on innovative tugboat designs.

One of the most important organizations supporting innovative ideas in ship and yacht design in Turkey, the National Ship and Yacht Design Competition, invites young designers to create the future tugboats in its 15th year. The application deadline for the competition, organized by the Ship, Yacht, and Services Exporters Association (GYHİB), has been extended until September 4, 2026.

Held for fifteen years, the competition stands out as an important platform contributing to the development of the creative and qualified human resources needed by the Turkish shipbuilding industry. University students and young designers have the opportunity to present their developed projects to leading representatives of the industry, shipyards, academics, and professionals, while also gaining access to a strong communication network that will guide their careers.

This year, the competition will focus on tugboat design, and participants are expected to develop original and applicable designs that evaluate operational efficiency, safety, environmental sustainability, ergonomics, and aesthetic elements together. The competition aims to enhance Turkey's competitiveness in ship and yacht design by supporting projects that combine the technical knowledge of young people with a creative perspective.

The National Ship and Yacht Design Competition serves as an important career step for young designers, offering opportunities beyond monetary awards. Participants who rank in the competition will gain the right to benefit from overseas training support provided by the Ministry of Trade, while also having the chance to establish direct contact with decision-makers in the industry and make their projects visible.

The projects that rank in the competition will be supported with a total prize pool of 490,000 TL. The first prize will be 220,000 TL, the second prize will be 150,000 TL, and the third prize will be 120,000 TL.

Applications for the competition, which is expected to receive innovative projects that will contribute to Turkey's ship and yacht design ecosystem, will continue until September 4, 2026. The application conditions, specifications, and all details regarding the competition can be accessed at www.gemiyattasarim.org.
