Almi Marine Orders Three Ultramax Vessels from China
Greek shipowner Almi Marine Management has placed an order for three new bulk carriers at the COSCO Zhoushan shipyard in China. The vessels, each with a capacity of 64,000 dwt, are scheduled for delivery in 2030.
Based in Athens, Almi Marine Management has signed a newbuilding agreement for three Ultramax-type bulk carriers as part of its fleet renewal program. The ships will be constructed at COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry’s Zhoushan shipyard in China.
Details of the order, which were brought to light by TradeWinds on October 6, have also been reported by the Greek maritime press and Splash. Each of the new vessels will have a carrying capacity of 64,000 dwt.
Newbuilding Program Reaches Five Vessels
In February 2026, Almi Marine had also ordered two Ultramax vessels of the same capacity from the Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (NACKS) shipyard. The delivery of these vessels is expected to take place in the second quarter of 2029.
With the addition of the three vessels to be built in Zhoushan, the company’s known newbuilding program has reached a total of five Ultramax vessels across two shipyards.
Deliveries Scheduled for 2030
The three vessels under the latest order are anticipated to join the fleet in 2030. The value of the agreement has not been disclosed.
The company had previously received three Ultramax vessels from Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (DACKS) in 2024 as part of earlier collaborations with Chinese shipyards.
