Aeromexico Cargo launches Paris-Monterrey route and resumes Barcelona-Mexico City flights, boosting cargo capacity from Europe by over 100 tonnes weekly.

Aeromexico Cargo has launched a new Paris-Monterrey route and resumed Barcelona-Mexico City flights after a five-year suspension, adding more than 100 tonnes of weekly cargo capacity from Europe, reported London's Air Cargo Week.

The Paris-Monterrey service contributes 35-45 tonnes of weekly capacity, while the Barcelona-Mexico City route adds up to 60 tonnes. Both are operated by Boeing 787 aircraft, offering up to 16 tonnes per flight.

ECS Group subsidiaries Aero Cargo France and GenAir Spain are working with Aeromexico Cargo to maximize utilization, attracting shipments including pharmaceuticals, automotive, aerospace, luxury goods, textiles, and e-commerce.

Alejandro Mendez, Aeromexico Cargo's senior vice president, said the expansion is the largest in the airline's European history. He noted that the Barcelona-Mexico City service eliminates the need to truck cargo to Madrid, improving speed and sustainability.

The Paris-Monterrey flights operate three times weekly before continuing to Mexico City, raising Mexico connections to 10 weekly flights over the summer. The Barcelona-Mexico City service resumed in March and runs daily except Wednesdays.

ECS Group chief executive officer Jean Ceccaldi stated that long-standing partnerships with forwarders have been strengthened and new agreements signed, ensuring healthy load factors. He added that French shipments include pharmaceuticals and luxury goods, while Spanish exports comprise textiles, automotive, machinery, e-commerce, and pharmaceuticals.
