The 229-meter bulk carrier SANTA CRUZ faced a mechanical failure in the Dardanelles, but no injuries or pollution were reported.
The bulk carrier named SANTA CRUZ, measuring 229 meters in length and en route from Russia to Sudan, experienced a machinery failure off the coast of Gocuk Point in the Dardanelles Strait.
In response to the failure, teams from the General Directorate of Coastal Safety were dispatched to the area. Under the coordination of the Çanakkale Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) Center, a pilot was sent to the vessel.
The tugboat KURTARMA-14 provided escort services, while the tugboat KURTARMA-21 took the vessel in tow and brought it under control. The large ship was safely towed to the Şevketiye Iron Field and anchored.
It was reported that there were no casualties, injuries, or environmental pollution during the incident in the strait traffic.
